Tomio works at his family’s pizzeria which is located just outside of the city’s downtown district. It has been a family owned establishment for many years and Tomio is next in line to run the pizzeria. It has seen better days in the past but makes good business for Tomio and his family. He never really bothered with higher education and is somewhat grateful for not falling for the college meme. Still, he seeks to do more with his life and recently found a new passion for Mil-Sim Story, a VR military combat simulation game. He eventually formed a squad with some close friends of his including Fio, a NEET who he first met on Mil-Sim Story, and Kimberly and Ramirez who were locals that performed music at his family restaurant for a couple of years. HIs ability to run his family business made him an ideal squad leader alongside his generally calm and collected personality. He was once childhood friends with Emi and their families would often get together for special occasions. When Emi moved out of the city, their friendship fractured around the time they were both in middle school. When Tomio and Emi finally reunited in Mil-Sim Story, they managed to set their past grievances aside and are now restoring their friendship and potentially making it into something greater. Tomio has always been fond of Emi and is willing to go beyond his capabilities for her.

    Weapons:

  • Primary: FN FAL (7.62×51mm NATO)
  • The Fabrique Nationale FAL (Fusil Automatique Léger) is a Cold War Classic Battle Rifle. Chambered in the 7.62 × 51 mm NATO round, it has some serious stopping power at a range more significant than most intermediate rounds. It's similar and interchangeable to the .308 Winchester round which is a very popular choice for hunting. The FN FAL uses a short-stroke gas piston system with an adjustable system which allows the user to tune the rifle’s dynamics based on environmental conditions. Just as the AK clones and derivatives are for the Eastern Bloc countries, the FN FAL was a universally adopted battle rifle in NATO aligned countries. These rifles would eventually be replaced by lighter, modular, and intermediate firing rifles but the FAL still sees plenty of use across the globe. Despite the heavy weight, it is accurate and reliable enough for some countries to still use in modern warfare.

Tomio’s FN FAL is technically not manufactured as FN Herstal but by an American company (David Selvaggio Arms or DSA). Fun fact, the US Military considered adopting the FAL in the late 1950s but was supplanted for various reasons by the M14 which would very soon be replaced by the AR-15/M16 Rifle across all branches in the following years. Tomio’s rifle is equipped with a Vortex Ranger LVPO (Low Powered Variable Optic.) which allows Tomio to switch between 1x-4x magnification for use with close and medium range sighting. This allows Tomio to use his FAL in a variety of ranges and situations without getting outclassed by most assault rifles or DMR setups.

Tomio does not just have one FAL Rifle. He actually has another configuration known as the DSA FA58 OSW (Operations Specialist Weapon) which is a shortened FAL with a folding stock, SAW style pistol grip, and a Birdcage style flash hider to reduce muzzle flash. The barrel is a mere 11” which reduces some capabilities of the 7.62 NATO caliber but is still capable of penetrating some materials at close range even more so than something like an AKM 7.62x39 mm round. He can mount an optic like an Aimpoint CompM4 red dot, a flashlight, or even a PEQ laser sighting system for night vision use although the muzzle flash can be blinding to use during the night so an alternative muzzle flash device should be considered.

  • Sidearm: Uberti 1873 Single-Action Cattleman II (.357 Magnum / .38 SPC)
  • The Colt 1873 Single Action Army Revolver is an iconic firearm in its own right made famous by the allure and romance of the wild west. Carried by soldiers, civilians, outlaws, and even generals like George S. Patton JR, The Colt Single Action is the quintessential cowboy revolver. It’s so iconic, that many companies especially after the second world war started producing their own clone or derivative of the revolver such as Cimarron, Ruger, and Heritage Arms, and Uberti. It is considered to be the official firearm for the state of Arizona, being one of the few states to have an official firearm (Utah has the Colt 1911 and Texas has the 1847 Colt Walker. The Single Action Army Revolver was originally chambered in a black powder .45 colt but was soon chambered for smokeless powder cartridges and eventually in more modern calibers like .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .45 ACP, and even the little 22 Long Rifle. As the name implies, it operates using a single action hammer which must be manually cocked to the rear before pulling the trigger. The cylinder typically holds around 6 rounds but some users will only load 5 rounds and leave the hammer resting on an empty chamber to prevent slamfire while carrying.

Tomio has a love for westerns and it’s quite a coincidence that he was able to carry an Uberti Cattleman II (Uberti being his family last name but personally has no connection to the Italian firearms manufacturer owned by the Beretta Holding Company. His model is chambered in .357 magnum which could also use .38 special rounds which are ballistically weaker but more economical to use in Mil-Sim story. His Cattleman has a retractable firing pin to prevent slamfires so Tomio doesn’t shoot himself while carrying in his side holster. Although a modern clone of the Colt SAA, it is still slower and heavier than most semi-auto and even modern revolvers. The SAA has to be reloaded one round at a time and ejected one at a time. Tomio will usually carry a spare cylinder in his kit so he can swap an empty cylinder for a loaded one by removing the cylinder pin and replacing the cylinder. His model has a nickel plated finish with fancy ivory grips. They hold no tactical advantage whatsoever but he thinks they look nice. His revolver has a barrel length of 7.5” making it somewhat more accurate than shorter barrel models. Despite the niche use of a Single Action Army in Mil-Sim Story, the revolver is fairly economical to obtain and has plenty of replacment parts. Flint's Gun Store in particular is stocked with them.
